Welcome and Introduction

Hunter Muller, President and CEO, HMG Strategy, LLC

2:10 PM - 2:30 PM

EXECUTIVE KEYNOTE:Welcome to the Digital Economy

Dr. Howard Rubin, Rubin Worldwide, MIT CISR Research Associate,Professor Emeritus, Hunter College of New York

During the short history of what we now call “technology economics” -which spans 60+ years - it has always been clear that demand for computing is increasing and that upwards expense pressure is a fact of life in what many have called the “Information Age”. Perhaps more appropriately we should be calling the era the “Digital & Technology Economy” as we have transitioned from agriculture to industry to our current world of today.

However, are our global markets, policy makers, and enterprises equipped to navigate through such a new and rapidly changing space? For example, the dashboard in a car doesn’t have the right gauges if you wanted to use it to fly;the cockpit in and airplane doesn’t have the right instruments and controls to enable it to navigate into space.

Likewise wedo not have the right (and relevant)indicators, tools, and models for today’s digital technology-based economy. And nowhere is there more apparent than in the financial services sector which is facing considerable revenue pressure, extensive competitive pressure with the emergence of the fintechs and new technologies/business models, and at the same time expense and regulatory pressure to ensure profitability and manage risk

In this talk, Dr Rubin will discuss his most recent findings on the dynamics of the Digital & Technology Economics and the new measurement suite to drive and manage technology investment.
