Armughan Rafat is an Innovative and technology savvy executive with broad experience of over twenty years of demonstrated success in running technology organizations for mission critical billion dollar and small start-up businesses. Throughout his distinguished career, he has developed products and services for enterprise wide, real-time, high-performance systems that deliver content to highly demanding users of every size and sophistication globally. He has built a reputation of turning around problem brands and building teams that can deliver results in high pressure situations for clients ranging from startups to Fortune 100 companies.
Rafat currently serve as the EVP and Chief Technology Officer of the ASI Family of Companies. He oversees all technology initiatives and strategy, including the application of emerging technologies to advance the development and delivery of products & platforms serving all ASI businesses. He also serves as the Chair of company’s Technology Council, which involves promoting best practices across the industry to drive scale in technology infrastructure, promote innovation through technology to develop the best products in the industry. Recently, Rafat was part of successful venture that was sold to a billion dollar company. He started this company with some friends as a founding employee and took it from zero to a multi-million dollars revenue business.
Previously he was Vice President of Technology for Markets division at Thomson Reuters. During his tenure at Thomson Reuters, Rafat held a number of senior leadership positions including VP of Technology for News division; Global Head of product strategy for news collections and editorial technology; VP of product development for Investment Banking. Under his leadership Thomson Reuters become world No. 1 in real-time low latency news delivery. Prior to Thomson Reuters, Mr. Rafat spent five years at Liberty Travel, a family-owned company where he served as Senior Director of Enterprise Architecture and led an enterprise-wide initiative to design and deliver the largest travel industry projects.
Rafat holds a bachelor’s degree in Computer Technology; a master’s degree in Software Engineering; and an executive master’s in Technology Management. In 2013 he was selected by the ranking committee of ExecRank as one of the top chief technology officers in the nation selected out of top 15,000 private company chief technology officers reviewed during the two year evaluation. He was also recently published in several reputed publications like CIO magazine, HBR and others. He also holds two patents awarded by US Patent office in fields of low latency financial data and machine learning technologies and several technology certifications.
