Chris Bitner is the Global Chief Information Security Officer for Bloomin’ Brands, Inc. (BLMN), one of the world’s largest casual dining companies with concepts including Outback Steakhouse, Carrabba’s Italian Grill, Bonefish Grill and Fleming’s Steakhouse & Wine Bar. Mr. Bitner is responsible for the strategic Global Security operations and strategy for approximately 100,000 team members and close to 1,500 restaurants throughout 48 states, Puerto Rico, Guam and 22 countries. Mr. Bitner has over 25 years of Security leadership experience spanning across both retail and restaurant channels. He joined Bloomin’ Brands Inc. following a 16-year tenure with Office Depot/Office Max Inc., where he served as the Global Chief Information Security Officer. In that role, he led all aspects of the Security organization including Cyber Security, Data Center Security and eDiscovery spanning Office Depot’s and Office Max Inc. global network. Other experiences include working with Target Stores, May Department Stores and Sears Department Stores. Mr. Bitner was recently nominated by the National Restaurant Association to serve as a Commissioner for President Obama’s Commission on enhancing National Cybersecurity and has been recognized by numerous industry associations including the National Restaurant Federation, National Retail Federation, Evanta CISO Governing Body and the Loss Prevention Counsel for his work promoting Cyber Security. Mr. Bitner has a dual BSc in Information Systems and Business Administration from the University of Phoenix. He has also completed his Associates degree in Criminal Justice from Fullerton College and holds certifications as a Certified Chief Information Officer (C|CISO) from the EC-Counsil and Certified Information Security Manager (CISM) from ISACA.
