With a passion for giving back, Lisa has also made a significant footprint in the Not-For-Profit sector attracting both private and NFP sector top talent to large NFP organizations.
As North American Director of Bedford Legal, Lisa has led numerous EVP GeneralCounsel searches, including the critical supporting legal counsel talent for their teams, notably leading several of the largest recent Executive Vice President General Counsel Searches, in both Canada and the United States. Lisa provides our clients with exceptional professional service and critical legal, business and leadership solutions, while providing best in class corporate governance advice to their Senior Executive Management and Board teams, which has never been more essential than it is in the current economic environment.
Prior to joining The Bedford Group, Lisa was a Principal with Ray & Berndtson and a Senior Consultant with Knightsbridge in Toronto. Before launching her career in Executive Search, Lisa practiced law in both Canada (Davies, Ward & Beck in Toronto) and the United States (Hale & Dorr in Boston and Schulte, Roth & Zabel in NYC) as a Senior Corporate Attorney specializing solely in Mergers and Acquisitions, and was actively involved in the running and successful closing of numerous high profile and complex multi-billion dollar transactions. Lisa also served as President of an entrepreneurial media company and served on the Board of Directors as an Executive Officer and Legal Counsel to a prominent international Business Association in the US. Lisa graduatedwith distinction from the McGill Faculty of Law, attended Queen's and Harvard University, qualified for the Dean’s list and graduated with First Class Bachelor of Arts Honours from Queen’s University. Lisa is admitted to both the Ontario and Massachusetts Bars and successfully passed the New York State Bar in 2002.
In July 2009, Ms. Heidman was appointed to the Board of Directors of Women of Influence™, one of Canada’s preeminent organizations for recognizing high-powered Senior Executive Women and inspiring and developing professional women throughout Canada and the United States. Lisa was appointed to the Canadian Senior Executive Task Force responsible for launching the Women’s Food Service Forum in Canada in 2009. In June 2010, Ms. Heidman was appointed to the Board of Directors of The Heart & Stroke Foundation of Ontario, one of the largest Health Care charities in Canada, and serves on the Board Development Committee. Most recently, in October 2010, Lisa was appointed to the Board of Directors of the Alzheimer’s Society of Toronto and serves as Chair of AST’s Nominating and Governance Committee. Lisa has a series column in the Women of Influence Magazine and is a speaker and regular panelist on issues of Executive Leadership, Board Development and Diversity Initiatives.
