Mark J. Duhaime serves as the former CIO of Optum. In that role, he is responsible for the face-off to Optum’s business segments to facilitate their product roadmaps, lifecycles, and portfolios. His team helps to drive innovation and timely, market-tested solutions/concepts, for expedited delivery by the central technology organization. Formerly, Mark was the Chief Operations Officer for UnitedHealth Group IT, managing a global workforce of nearly 7000 employees who are responsible for the delivery and support of UnitedHealthcare and Optum’s application portfolio. Mark has restructured the segment-based IT software organizations into a high performing, global, enterprise function. He has developed a structured shared services model that includes Program Management, architecture and support; driving consistent customer experience and resource flexibility. Prior to joining UnitedHealth Group in March 2009, Mark was the Executive Director, Application Development Services at Ford Motor Company. In this role, Mark was responsible for Ford’s global application development, maintenance and software/information architecture with major centers in the U.S., Great Britain, Germany and India. He also focused on modifying the application development process, taking advantage of technical architecture talents and standards to improve on reliability and innovation. While at Ford, Mark also held the role of Director, Information Technology Infrastructure, overseeing Ford's global technical infrastructure including data centers, web-hosting and infrastructure services for businesses across the company. Duhaime earned a Bachelor of Science degree in computer and information systems from Oakland University. He has received CIO Magazine’s “Emerging Technology Award”. Duhaime has also served as recruiting director for Ford IT and as a member of the Automotive Industry Action Group (AIAG) helping to establish communication standards for the industry.
