Pete Young joined UMUC in 2011 as Chief Information Officer (CIO), and now serves as Senior Vice President for Analytics, Planning, and Technology. In this role, he provides strategic direction and leadership for the following divisions within the University: the Office of Analytics, University-wide Project Management Office, Office of Technology, and Office of Customer Service. In his role Pete serves on both the Executive Committee and President’s Cabinet. Mr. Young came to UMUC with over 20 years of leadership experience in information technology, having served most recently as vice president and CIO of Rosetta Stone, in Arlington, Virginia, the world’s leading language-learning software company. Prior to that, he served as vice president and CIO of MedImmune, in Gaithersburg, Maryland, a global Biopharmaceutical company that was acquired by AstraZeneca. Pete began his career in the telecommunications industry. Mr. Young sits on the boards of numerous nonprofit and education organizations and is very active in the community. He holds a BA in computer science and economics from Wittenberg University in Springfield, Ohio, and an MBA from Indiana Wesleyan University in Marion, Indiana.
