EXECUTIVE KEYNOTE: Rethinking the IT Function for the Next Era of the Digital Age

Don Tapscott, Digital Strategist and CEO, The Tapscott Group, and bestselling author - most recently Blockchain Revolution: How the Technology Behind Bitcoin is Changing Money, Business, and the World

The technology likely to have the greatest impact on the enterprise and the global economy has arrived, and it’s notable data, artificial intelligence, self-driving cars or solar energy. It’sthe Blockchain. The first generation of the digital revolution brought us the Internet of information. The second generation—powered by blockchain technology—is bringing us the Internet of value: a new, distributed platform that can help us reshape the world of business and transform the old order of human affairs for the better.

Don Tapscott, arguably the world’s leading authority on the digital age, argues that blockchain technology will transform financial services, but also the deep architecture of the corporation, animate the internet of things, recast the role of government, and fix the music industry, among others. He argues that the second era of the internet has profound implications for IT strategy and architecture, and leadership.A new kind of courageous CIO is needed and new kinds of collaborations between leaders in IT and the rest of the business.

This executive keynote will be followed by Hunter Muller interviewing Don Tapscott to uncover the key take aways from this discussion.

Despite a global IT spend of over $4 Trillion, 67% of CEOs & CIOs are misaligned on how IT should be enabling the business*.. With the dramatic increase in digital technology & the business’s appetite to understand and enable their own innovations through technology, CIOs are challenged with the need to rapidly understand business inputs, stakeholder satisfaction, and assess their own teams internal capabilities. Info-Tech has found too often this is done through ad-hoc and informal processes, making improvement hard to measure, and success impossible to define. A new model is needed to enable the CIO to rapidly make decisions, prove success & analyze challenges with DATA.

In this session Info-Tech will present how CIOs can overcome these challenges, and forge a new data driven approach to rapidly accelerate decision making, as well as measure the benefits of IT with DATA. Info-Tech will share insights from Info-Tech’s 3 year Stakeholder Satisfaction Study & how IT can enable transformation at unparalleled rates.
