Starting in the mid 1970’s, he became a serial CIO and then co-founded The Systems Consulting Consortium, Inc., a “high-end” IT-focused management consulting firm which helped found many IT departments in Northern California such as Tencor, Cirrus Logic, and others. Concurrently he helped found the Fisher CIO Leadership Program within the Haas School of Business at UC-Berkeley and its globally-recognized Fisher-Hopper Prize for Lifetime Achievement in CIO Leadership, described by some as “The Nobel Prize for CIOs”.
