  • Bertina Ceccarelli

    Bertina Ceccarelli joined NPower as Chief Executive Officer in May, 2016.  NPower is a national nonprofit dedicated to creating pathways to economic prosperity by launching digital careers for military veterans and young adults from underserved communities.  NPower empowers under-represented talent to pursue tech futures by teaching the digital and professional skills demanded by the marketplace, and by engaging corporations, volunteers and nonprofits in the long-term success of our students. 

    Ms. Ceccarelli is an engineer by training and began her career in technology as a Systems Analyst for Procter & Gamble before moving into sales and marketing for the company.  After P&G, she joined the National Broadcasting Company (NBC), where she served in several executive roles, including Senior Vice President, Marketing for NBC’s online ventures and Senior Vice President for Brand Strategy for NBCi, a portfolio company of the broadcast network.

    After a successful career in the corporate sector, Ms. Ceccarelli chose to transition her skills to the nonprofit sector.  Growing up in a working-class family and the first to graduate from high school, she was drawn to a community that once supported her own educational endeavors.  In 2001, Ms. Ceccarelli joined United Way of New York City as Senior Vice President of Institutional Advancement where she led marketing, brand strategy, donor relationship management, fundraising, and corporate volunteer engagement.

    Prior to her appointment at NPower, she served as Executive Vice President of Global Resources at the Wildlife Conservation Society where she led fundraising from private sources, capital campaigns, corporate strategy, conservation finance, membership, direct response, and events. She was responsible for generating over $85 million annually in programmatic and unrestricted funds. In her role she led brand development and strategy for the Society and launched Future Leaders, a workforce development initiative to accelerate career success for local Bronx youth.

    Bertina holds an MBA from Harvard University and a BS in Industrial Engineering and Operations Research from the University of California at Berkeley.  She has served on the board of Girls Inc. New York and the Strategic Planning Council for Brooklyn Youth Chorus.  She has also served on the board of Women in Development and chaired the Harvard Business School Club of New York’s Social Enterprise Conference.  She is a certified yoga instructor.  Bertina lives in the Carroll Gardens section of Brooklyn with her husband and teenage son.

    Peta-Gay Clarke is a well-rounded professional with broad experience as a Business, Information Technology and Community leader coupled with a passion for providing S.T.E.M. education to youth underrepresented in the technology industry. Peta is currently a Diversity Manager working under the Inclusion and Educational Equity pods at Google in an effort to advance an inclusive culture for current and future Googlers. She is the Program Lead for Google Code Next -- an initiative to expand social capital in Black and Latino neighborhoods by developing culturally engaging and community-centric tech experiences. She is also an Adjunct Professor at Pace University’s Seidenberg School of Computer Science. Previously, Peta was the Deputy Director of IT at the Columbia University School of Journalism and has over 10 years experience as a Programmer building web-based applications for companies such as Federal Reserve Bank, NYC Department of Education, New York Magazine and COACH Inc. Peta holds a Bachelor's Degree in Computer Programming from Farmingdale State University of New York (SUNY). She has earned a Master's Degree from Pace University and was awarded the Civic Engagement Award for Academic Excellence and Community Service in May 2015.

    Harriet Edelman is an accomplished senior executive with over thirty years of global operating experience in consumer goods and financial services. Harriet is Vice Chairman of Emigrant Bank, the largest privately held, family owned and run community bank in the United States. Harriet has responsibility for Finance Operations, Information Technology, and Credit Administration.

    Prior to Emigrant Bank, Harriet began her career and spent twenty-five years in consumer businesses. She rose to leadership positions in Marketing, Sales, Business Strategy and Transformation, e-commerce, Global Supply Chain and Information Technology. Harriet served as a Member of the Executive Committee and Member of the Finance Committee.

    Harriet has served on large public company boards for sixteen years in the U.S. and Europe, serving as Chairman and Member of Nominating & Governance Committees, Vice Chairman of Audit Committees, and Member of Executive and Compensation Committees. She serves on the Board of Directors of Brinker International, Inc., and Assurant, Inc. Previously, Harriet served on the Board of Directors of UCB, from 2012 through 2017, and The Hershey Company, Ariba, and the Blair Corporation.

    Harriet serves on the Board of Trustees at Bucknell University as Vice Chairman, Chairs the Campus Life Committee, and serves as a Member of the Finance, and Nominating & Governance Committees. She served as a Trustee at the New York Blood Center from 2010 until April of 2017 and Chaired the Oversight Committee and Strategic Planning Committee and was a Member of the Executive Committee.

    Harriet earned an MBA from Fordham University in Marketing and Operations Research and a Bachelor's degree from Bucknell University. Harriet completed the NACD CERT Certificate for Cybersecurity Oversight for Directors in July, 2018. She has been a guest lecturer on leadership, technology, women’s advancement, diversity and inclusion, and business strategy.

  • Greg Fell

    Greg Fell is the Chief Operating officer of Gama Aviation. Gama is the largest managed aircraft business in the US, and the exclusive Air Carrier for WheelsUp.

    Prior to joining Gama Aviation, Mr. Fell served as a General Partner in The Investors Collaborative, a Boston-based venture capital group. As a trusted leader, he formally advised several technology startup companies, and mentored young entrepreneurs on the challenges in starting a technology business.

    In this role, he served as the CEO of Hire Canvas, Chief Strategy Officer of Crisply, and Board Advisor to App Point Software and BlackRidge Technologies. He currently serves as an independent director on the Boards of Kitchen Brains a leader in Fast Food automation technologies, and BluSapphire an end-to-end security solution for Small to mid-sized Enterprises.

    Prior to the Investors Collaborative, Mr. Fell served as Vice President and Chief Information Officer of Terex Corporation, where he led a strategic transformation of the IT Organization. Terex is a manufacturer of industrial equipment that employs 23,000 persons in 50 manufacturing locations around the globe.

    Before joining Terex, Fell spent nearly 20 years with Ford Motor Company. He started as a software developer, and worked his way through a variety of management roles supporting the global Engineering and Manufacturing functions of the company. He has domain expertise on CAD/CAM/CAE systems, Lean Manufacturing, and Control Systems.

    Fell is a graduate of Michigan State University, and spent several years on staff in the College of Engineering as a Senior Research Programmer, and Instructor.

    His book, Decoding the IT Value Problem (John Wiley and Sons, 2013), has gained positive reviews for its research into the management issues and solutions required to make IT projects more successful.

    Cindy Finkelman joined FactSet Research Systems as Chief Information Officer in June 2015.  Cindy is responsible for Enterprise Transformation, Project Management, Security and Enterprise Risk Management; and works with senior business leaders to build strategic, effective and efficient capabilities through innovative and transformational programs.  Cindy was recognized as CIO of the Year by the 2017 Markets Media Women in Finance Awards, for her transformative impact on the company, her mentoring of women technologists and her philanthropic work.

    Cindy is a senior executive with 20+ years of diversified management, technology and operations experience and has a proven track record of designing and delivering technology driven transformational programs in many blue-chip firms, including New York Life Insurance Company, ALICO, Merrill Lynch, Marsh & McLennan, Prudential, Booz Allan & Hamilton and MetLife. Cindy’s passion is for people development. She has sponsored various mentoring programs and Women in Technology initiatives.

    Kevin N Hooper is President and General Manager of DCG for NA where he owns Sales, Channels, Solutions, Alliances and Services. Prior to Lenovo, Kevin led revenue generation at Rogue Wave Software as their Chief Revenue Officer focusing on developing and executing sales strategies, as well as aligning and optimizing the customer experience to deliver revenue. Kevin started his career designing nuclear power plant control rooms and coding some of the first interfaces to access databases over ARPANET in the early 1990s. Kevin brings experience with large sales organizations, including direct, channel, and strategic partnerships at Oracle, IBM, HP and NEC. Always focused on entrepreneurial business lines, new customer acquisition, and channels, Kevin brings his passion for solving customer problems with technology.     Prachi Kasodhan is Executive Director in the Technology Transformation Team at Morgan Stanley.     Mr. Mackereth is a veteran executive and recognized thought leader in the Enterprise Systems space, with 20 years experience working in various industries including financial services, technology, software, aerospace and defense. Specializing in Oracle applications and technologies, Mr. Mackereth has led projects and global teams for companies of all sizes and managed 24×7 support teams in challenging corporate environments using a variety of applications and technologies.

    Prior to joining Rimini Street, Mr. Mackereth provided management consulting services to global organizations headquartered in the San Francisco Bay Area. He introduced Program, Risk and Change Management techniques during a global deployment of Oracle E-Business Suite before leading a successful EBS r12.1.3 upgrade to deliver on schedule and under budget.

    Previously, Mr. Mackereth was vice president at Visa, responsible for the development and production support of global ERP solutions. In addition to managing the 24×7 support of core systems used by employees operating in more than 150 countries, this role included delivery of a significant portfolio of projects to improve technology and process in the crucial post-IPO phase.

    Earlier in his career, Mr. Mackereth was a Senior Manager at BAE SYSTEMS with responsibility for development and production support of corporate systems including financial, maintenance, engineering and manufacturing. During this time, he introduced complex maintenance repair and overhaul (cMRO), service-oriented architecture (SOA) and identity management solutions using Oracle solutions and received a Fusion Middleware Innovation Award as an early adopter of SOA.

    Mr. Mackereth is an active contributor to the Oracle community, having participated on customer advisory boards for SOA, identity and access management, and cMRO. He is an OAUG Ambassador and has presented at Oracle Open World on multiple occasions and to industry leaders across Asia during the inaugural SOA Leaders Summit in Macau.

    George Maddaloni is the Chief Technology Officer, Operations, for Operations and Technology. In this role, George leads the Operations, Network and Employee Digital Experience organizations (ONE).

    Prior to Mastercard, George was the Global Chief Technology Officer at AIG. As Chief Technology Officer, George was responsible for delivering compute, cloud, network, employee and identity access services to AIG businesses. He also partnered closely with business CIOs on both the technology modernization strategy and agenda for AIG.

    George has over 28 years of experience in the financial services and technology industry. He joined AIG in October 2015 from UBS, where he was Managing Director, Americas Infrastructure and Global Network Operations. Prior to UBS, he spent 20 years in various positions at AT&T. His most notable role at AT&T was Vice President, Global Managed Services and Outsourcing, where he was responsible for running enterprise networks for Internal AT&T and several Fortune 100 Financial, Manufacturing and Technology companies.

    George earned a BA in Mechanical Engineering from John Hopkins University, an MS in Technology Management from Stevens Institute of Technology and an MBA in Finance from Fordham's Gabelli School of Business. He resides in Westport, CT, with his wife and three children and is a member of the Gartner Technology Infrastructure Research Board, the TBM Council Board of Directors, the Global Cisco Customer Advisory Board and the Verizon Financial Services Advisory Board.

    John holds a B.A. and Ph.D. degrees in economics from Northeastern University in Boston and has a master's degree in economics from Brown University. John's first book Dynamic Economic Decision Making was published by Wiley in August 2011.

    John serves as a member of the Blue-Chip Panel of Economic Forecasters and serves on an informal advisory group for the Federal Reserve Bank of Philadelphia. He serves as chair for the Economic Advisory Committee of both the Securities Industry and Financial Markets Association (SIFMA) Economic Advisory Roundtable and the American Bankers Association.

    A strong supporter of education and civic affairs, John served as a member of the Business Advisory Council at the Walker College of Business at Appalachian State University in Boone, N.C., and on the President's Council for Charlotte's Central Piedmont Community College. He has previously served as a board member of the British American Business Council of North Carolina and served on the Economic Development Board for the State of North Carolina, a special appointment by the Governor.     Marcus holds a Ph.D (Physical Chemistry) degree from Harvard University in Cambridge, Massachusetts, USA, and a Bachelor of Science (Computer Science and Chemistry) joint degree from King’s College in London, UK.  Marcus has a physical science, computer science and networking background, but is broadly knowledgeable about many subjects as part of a never-ending quest to understand the techno-economic evolution of humans and societies.

    He was selected as one of the Global Telecoms Business Power 100 of the most influential people in 2014 and one of their ‘Top CTOs to watch in 2015’.  He has served on the Board of Trustees of the Liberty Science Center in New Jersey and serves as an advisor to select Venture Funds.   He was awarded the prestigious New Jersey Medal of Science and Technology in 2016 for his technical vision and leadership.  He is the editor and lead author of the book “The Future X Network: A Bell Labs Perspective”

Ever since the self-driving beer truck completed its run across Colorado, it’s clear we don’t need people to drive our trucks. No company in its right mind will pay for these 3.5 million humans (or the 1 million taxi, bus, and Uber drivers). 

Meanwhile, Amazon recently unveiled its first entirely unmanned grocery store in Seattle, where facial recognition and other sensors know what you’ve pulled off the shelf and bill you automatically. There go America’s 8 million cashiers and retail workers (6 percent of the workforce).  

It’s time to start thinking about the post-robot world. What will all of these displaced workers DO?  

Experts suggest things like a “negative income tax,” where everyone would be guaranteed a certain living stipend. But that doesn’t mean that those millions of robot-displaced workers would find MEANING in life. 

In this talk, I’ll explore where we are on the road to automated employees, prepare audiences practically and emotionally for that very near future, assess just how good or bad the situation will be, and evaluate some of the solutions.
