    Mike was most recently the Executive Chairman of the Board of Rita's Franchise Company, where he was twice called upon to be Interim CEO. He took this position after building WaterJel Technologies for six years, for private equity Riverside Company. Previously, Mike was President, CEO, and Board Director of Latex International - another PE-backed company where he tripled revenues by building a strong management team, rejuvenating the culture and introducing new products and channels.

    As CEO, President and Director of Strategic Optical Holdings, a contact lens supply company, he grew revenues and profits and led the separate divestiture of its two businesses. As Chief Revenue Officer of Air Express International (NASDAQ), a $1.2 billion air cargo leader, he built revenue and helped position the company for its sale to the largest logistics company in the world at a substantial market premium. As President of the $630 million Tambrands Company, Mike grew market share and profitability before selling the company to P&G at a 33% premium.

    During his decade with Pepsico, Inc., Mike served as President of Pizza Hut International, President of PepsiCola's Eastern US bottling operations, and Chief Marketing Officer for PepsiCola North America. Mike began his business career in marketing and general management positions at Bristol-Myers Squibb.

    Mike has held a variety of corporate director seats in both public and private companies. He currently sits on the board of Rita's Italian Ices, and C.P. Kelco. He has also been a director of two NASDAQ companies - Closure Medical Inc., and Trident International, Inc. He chaired the Compensation Committees of both of these public company Boards.

    In addition, he has been a Director of three other PE-backed companies: WaterJel Technologies, Latex International, and Strategic Optical Holdings.

    As an active independent director who seeks to make a tangible contribution to boards, Mike has earned his Master's level Professional Director's Certification from The American College of Corporate Directors, is a Masters level Governance Fellow in the National Association of Corporate Directors (NACD), and has attended the Wharton-Spencer Stuart Directors' Institute.

    As Corporate Chief Technology Officer, Marcus Weldon is responsible for coordinating the technical strategy across the company and driving technological and architectural innovations into Nokia’s end-to-end networking systems and software portfolio.  In addition, as President of Nokia Bell Labs, Marcus is responsible for driving the next disruptive innovation and research agenda for the company.

    Marcus is considered one of the luminaries in the ICT industry in terms of the clarity, depth and breadth of his vision. He combines his vision with the power of Bell Labs, to create a unique innovation engine whose goal is to ‘invent the future’ of the networking and communications industry.

    Marcus holds a Ph.D (Physical Chemistry) degree from Harvard University in Cambridge, Massachusetts, USA, and a Bachelor of Science (Computer Science and Chemistry) joint degree from King’s College in London, UK.  Marcus has a physical science, computer science and networking background, but is broadly knowledgeable about many subjects as part of a never-ending quest to understand the techno-economic evolution of humans and societies.
