This includes Strategic Planning, General Management, R&D, Program Management, Quality Systems, Continuous Improvement, Process Management and IT. His effective transformation leadership has successfully integrated the IT and business priorities via program management, roadmaps, goals, KPIs and strategic initiatives, across multiple platforms & business units, nationally & internationally.  Resulting in a uniform SAP landscape region wide, measurable business improvements, increased sales opportunities, optimized business processes & supply chain, efficient technology & infrastructure, IT cost transparency, and a high performance IT team to support business growth & strategy.   • Phil Carlson
    Director of Asset Protection & Investigations, Global Security Team, East Coast Operations

    Phil has dedicated his professional life to the law enforcement and corporate security professions.  Phil’s career began in 1982 and he has over three decades of operational and training experience in the law enforcement arena.  He been a law enforcement officer with the Cromwell, CT Police Department, the Brevard County, FL Sheriff’s Office, the Orange County, FL Sheriff’s Office and the U.S. Department of Homeland Security, Federal Law Enforcement Training Center (FLETC), where he was the Lead Senior Instructor over numerous federal law enforcement training programs. 

    After leaving government service, Phil served for eight years as the Director of Global Corporate Security for an international telecom and energy company operating in 26 countries.  He was also responsible for executive protection of the company founders and their families.

    Phil also founded and was the President of two training companies, Command Presence Training Associates, LLC, and Policing Performance Concepts, LLC, both dedicated to training law enforcement agencies and civilians.  He also served as a content developer and lead instructor for the U.S. Department of Justice, BJA, for the VALOR Officer Safety training programs.

    Phil is also the co-author with Kevin Rice, (United States Secret Service, ret.) of “From Sheepdog To The C-Suite; A Practical Guide For The Transitioning Cop or Vet”.

    Phil is currently the Director of Asset Protection and Investigations, East Coast Operations for Herbalife Nutrition, where he leads and manages physical security operations and investigations for Global Security at the Herbalife Innovation & Manufacturing facility in Winston-Salem, NC, with an expanded role in Corporate Event Security.

  • Cassandra Chandler
    Senior Risk Advisor and Leadership Coach

    Cassandra “Cassi” Chandler has led an extraordinary career as an innovator, strategist, attorney and servant leader within U.S. government services and the financial services industry.  She is an Adjunct Professor at PACE University in New York, a member of the faculty at Pacific Coast Banking School and CEO of the Leadership Development and risk assessment firm, Vigeo Alliance.

    Cassi currently serves on the NYPD Federal Monitor’s team and is also CEO of the Chandler Consulting Group, LLC.  Prior to her retirement as a Senior Vice President for Business Operations at Bank of America, Cassi was responsible for building an integrated framework for assessing risks and operational effectiveness of enterprise coverage areas.  She oversaw enterprise-wide processes for the aggregation, determination and referral of potential fraud, where she utilized intelligence analytics to identify emerging fraud trends and risks. Previously, she built and directed an enterprise team to collect and analyze internal and external intelligence to proactively predict regulatory, reputational and financial risks, while also enhancing the customer experience.  She also served as the bank’s Senior Global Investigative Services Executive, developing a prevention-focused global fraud program that investigated fraudulent activities and utilized intelligence to identify emerging fraud risks.   

    In addition to her roles as a risk executive, Cassi led the bank’s Compliance relationship with the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB). As the enterprise engagement executive, she was responsible for building relations and supporting the needs of the Consumer regulator and managing and influencing CFPB interactions across the enterprise.  She also served on the U.S. Marine Corp Red Team that monitored the Corp’s assessment of expanding infantry roles to women and sits on the Board of Third Way, a public policy think tank on Cybercrimes.

    Cassi joined Bank of America in January 2008, following her retirement from the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) where she spent 23 years managing, directing and leading criminal, terrorism and foreign intelligence activities in the FBI. She was a member of the Senior Executive Service, the Assistant Director of the FBI Academy at the U.S. Marine Corps Base in Quantico and Section Chief of Criminal and Domestic Terrorism Intelligence. She served as an attorney in the Office of Legal Counsel, was Special Agent in Charge of the Norfolk Field Office and the FBI’s first female national spokesperson and Assistant Director of Public Affairs. Before joining the FBI, Cassi was an attorney with the U.S. Army Corp of Engineers and a reporter and anchorwoman for an NBC affiliate. 

    Cassi is a recipient of numerous awards and recognitions, including the SES Presidential Rank of Meritorious Executive Award under President George W. Bush, the National Center for Women and Policing’s “Breaking the Glass Ceiling” award and the Norfolk NAACP “Trail Blazer” award. She currently sits on the Board of Visitors for Johnson C. Smith University, the LSU Alumni Board and has served on the LSU National Diversity Advisory Board and the BofA Global Diversity & Inclusion Council.  She is a member of Delta Sigma Theta, Inc, a social action sorority.

    Michelle has over 20 years of experience working within the IT industry and works as VP of Client Development for Dualboot Partners, a Charlotte based product development firm.  Prior employers include HireNetworks, DCRI, a national personnel and employment services company, and Sapient Corporation. She was named the North Carolina Technology Association Ambassador of the Year and is a current Board of Advisor.  She was a co-founder and President of the CRTEC (Charlotte Regional Technology Executives Council).  She also served as President for the North Carolina Association of Staffing Professionals.  She is an active member of SIM Charlotte, SIM Women, Apparo, and Ballantyne/Lake Norman IT.  She received a degree in Economics from Boston College and lives in Charlotte with her husband and two children.

Maury is has an entrepreneurial spirit, enjoys wearing many hats and has a passion for making software work better. Outside of software, Maury has worked on Broadway, is a pilot, enjoys amateur radio, tinkers with Raspberry Pis, teaches shooting sports, and loves DIY projects at home.

  • Daidre Fanis

    Daidre Fanis joined M&S Consulting in June 2017 as Executive Director and Practice Leader.  She has over 20+ years of IT leadership with both public and private companies of varying sizes and industries, and consulting.

    Daidre began her career with Kraft General Foodservice where she advanced to several key positions focused on defining and implementing IT strategies, both internally and for clients.  She then transitioned into telecommunications at a Charlotte-based start-up called US LEC which was later acquired by PAETEC Communications, and then ultimately Windstream.  Throughout her tenure in telecommunications, Daidre led senior leadership positions with oversight of all IT enterprise business services, strategy and solutions delivery, including IT operational excellence, M&A due diligence and integrations, CRM & ERP transformations, robotics process automation solutions, and PMO.  Daidre was also Sr. Director of IT at AvidXchange where she led strategies to implement & enable scalability and growth for the hyper-growth company by way of technology and IT service delivery optimization.

    Throughout her career, she has been both a recipient and a leadership mentor in Mentee-Mentor programs helping to define and develop other IT professionals, and has held a seat on UNCC’s Women in Computing panel for mentoring women students within the program.  She has also led employee culture, community foundation and wellness committees at each of her companies.  Daidre was a winner of the Charlotte Business Journal 2016 Women in Business Achievement Award.  She is passionate about supporting outreach and foundations such as STEAM, Women in Technology, Alzheimer’s Association and St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.

    Daidre holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Communications and Information Technology from the State University of New York, and a Master degree from Lynn University.  She is also a graduate of the elite Society  for Information Management (SIM) for senior IT professionals, and is current Vice President (and incoming President as of June 2019) of the Charlotte SIM Chapter.

    Dan Feliz is a senior technology executive with 20 years of diverse technical and leadership experience.  Dan has extensive airline industry experience in the design, management and support of technology solutions used to power all aspects of the business.

    Dan has held various technology leadership roles at Jetblue Airways where he oversaw data center infrastructure services.  He championed their adoption of new technologies and led their datacenter transformation initiatives focused on data center consolidation and enterprise cloud.    

    Dan recently joined Nutanix where he now serves as retail and hospitality customer success executive.  Within those industries, he advocates the many benefits of automation, devops and hyperconvergence.  Leveraging his extensive experience on the customer side, Dan works closely with top Nutanix customers to help them achieve success in their enterprise cloud journey.    

  • Angelic Gibson

    Angelic Gibson has spent over 20 years in Information Technology, in a number of leadership positions. She joined AvidXchange in 2018, and today serves as the company’s Chief Information Officer. Prior to joining AvidXchange, she held the position of Senior Vice President, Information Technology at Technekes. Over the course of two decades, Angelic gained deep experience in enterprise technology systems, as well as management practices supporting databases, networks, telecommunications, and infrastructure. She has built and supported business intelligence platforms, has extensive cloud computing strategic insight, and a solid track record of success in balancing operational efficiencies with business development and growth. In addition to overseeing Technology Delivery & Operations at AvidXchange, Angelic is passionate about, and actively involved in, building a talent pipeline for the next generation of technology talent, both inside and outside the business.

  • Keith Gordon

    Keith Gordon is the Chief Information Security Officer for Ally Financial. In his previous role, he was the Information Security and Risk Management Executive for Ally where he was responsible for Strategy, Innovation and Security Architecture; Data and 3rd party Security, Cyber Analytics and User Behavior Analytics for Information Security as well as Enterprise Disaster Recovery & Business Continuity.

    Prior, Gordon worked at Bank of America in Global Information Security where he held roles as the Business Information Security Officer as well as leading the Cyber Threat Intelligence and Customer Protection (CTICP) team. Gordon began his career with Bank of America in 2003 supporting Consumer Banking Technologies where his focus was technology risk, security and fraud. In 2010, Gordon was appointed the Security, Fraud and Identify executive where he developed and managed authentication, security strategies and product development for Consumer Banking. His teams led the effort to define and build the enterprise standards for application security, vulnerability management and compliance, resulting in the bank's Enterprise Cyber Security strategy.

    Gordon left Bank of America in 2012 to take on a role as Enterprise Information Security and IT Risk Management executive at Capital One. He returned to Bank of America in August 2014 as the Business Information Security Officer.

    Keith graduated from Anderson University with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Marketing and Mathematics. He lives in Charlotte, North Carolina.

    Karl Hightower is Senior Vice President of Enterprise Information Management and Chief Data Officer for Novant Health, where he and his teams oversee the advancing of the use of information assets for the company. His teams deliver products and services ranging from advanced analytics and real-time messaging to delivering Cognitive Computing and AI solutions throughout the enterprise. He and his teams focus on simplifying how information is consumed within the decision making processes through innovative and collaborative means. Karl has held executive roles in large retail and energy trading companies, and has held pivotal roles in telecommunications, manufacturing, supply chain, insurance, government, banking and finance, and food and beverage. In these roles, Karl set strategic direction and created alignment to direct structures during the pivot years of these industries, devised and led game-changing initiatives, increased revenue by millions – and in one case billions – of dollars, became an early champion and expert in cloud adoption, personalization through social media data, real-time pricing structures, and extreme automation through machine learning and AI-based algorithms. Karl has an undergraduate degree from University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in PoliticalScience, and was in the first class to go through Carnegie Mellon’s prestigious ISRI Enterprise Architecture and Strategy program. Karl is the son of two college professors, and is from a long line of educators. This upbringing instilled a continuous thirst for learning and creating opportunities for others to learn. While in Dallas, Karl helped to found and build the STEAM education program for the district. The program included one entirely Spanish immersive middle school as well as associate degree paths in the high schools. Karl was heavily involved in the Texas Amateur Golf Association as well as the Dallas LPGA events. In Charlotte, Karl has joined the District Advisory Board for Career and Technical Education (CTE) for the Charlotte Mecklenburg School district.

    Doug has produced significant cost reduction in the organizations he has supported through a combination of innovative strategies, negotiation, and outside-the-box thinking. He has successfully led ROI development to bring bleeding-edge technology, driving sales and increasing the top line. Doug is a frequent speaker at various industry seminars and is well regarded for his ability to deliver relevant ideas and value. Doug is a graduate of the University of Missouri, Columbia and received his Juris Doctorate from California Western School of Law.

    Kirby most recently served as Sr. Vice President of Information Technology for Sunbelt Rentals, a leading equipment rental company in the Americas. During his tenure, Sunbelt grew from $2B to $6B in revenue, increased its footprint from 275 locations to over 850, and expanded into markets outside the continental US. He led the overall business technology planning, bringing a current knowledge and future vision of technology and systems as related to the company’s competitive positioning.

    Prior to Sunbelt, Mr. Miner served as Chief Information Officer for the Trex Company, the world leader in composite outdoor building products.

In 2014, he assumed a new role as the lead for their Cybersecurity efforts and developed a firm wide “Protect the Client” Cyber program designed to raise cybersecurity awareness among employees and clients.  With almost 40 years of experience in Information Technology, Gary has served in various other IT leadership positions in firms across the financial services industry. Prior to joining J.P. Morgan in 2005, Gary was Head of Global Infrastructure and Head of Technology Efficiencies at Citi Private Bank, where he was responsible for Global Infrastructure Support and strategic technology initiatives.     James L. Turgal, Jr, was formerly Executive Assistant Director (EAD), Information and Technology Branch, entered on duty in March 1996 and was assigned to the Houston Division, working Organized Crime and Drug investigations.  Upon being promoted as a Supervisory Special Agent, he was assigned to FBI Headquarters, Office of General Counsel and the Counterterrorism Division, as the senior counsel for Domestic Terrorism Operations.

    In 2002, Jim was assigned to the Cincinnati Division as Chief Division Counsel, Media Spokesperson, and Supervisory Special Agent.  Four years later, he returned to FBI Headquarters to lead the Director’s Research Group. He later became the Assistant Special Agent in Charge of Administration at the Washington Field office. 

    In 2010, Jim was selected to serve as the Special Assistant to the Deputy Director, providing counsel on various national security, criminal, and administrative issues affecting the FBI.  One year later, he was designated Special Agent in Charge of the Phoenix Division, where he oversaw several high profile cases, including the shooting of U.S. Congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords.  In 2012, Jim returned to FBI Headquarters, as the Deputy Assistant Director of the Human Resources Division (HRD).

    In August 2013, Director Robert S. Mueller, III appointed Jim as the Assistant Director (AD) of the HRD.  During this time, he served as the AD and Human Resource Officer.

    On February 10, 2016, Director James B. Comey, Jr. announced the appointment of James L. Turgal, Jr., as the EAD of the Information and Technology Branch.

    Jim is also a FBI certified pilot.

She is a Trustee of the Charlotte Regional Business Initiative, and is an advisory board member for the American Hospital Association Innovation Council and the University of Tennessee Electrical Engineering and Computer Science department.
