9:20 - 9:30 AM - Digital Interview: The New Leadership Paradigm: Why Tech Executives Must Shift from a ‘Command-and-Control’ Model to ‘Trust and Inspire’ to Win the Global War for Talent and in the Marketplace
Stephen M. R. Covey, best-selling author interviewed by Hunter Muller, Founder and CEO, HMG Strategy
The world has changed dramatically since March 2020 and so, too, have organizational cultures. The shift to a work-from-home environment has empowered employees who want to dictate how, when and where they work. Moreover, in a flat-screen meeting environment where all participants are viewed as equals, employees don’t want to follow orders – they want to be part of the brain-trust that helps to solve critical business and customer challenges and to influence the strategic trajectory of the company.
In this compelling Executive Interview with HMG Strategy President and CEO Hunter Muller, Stephen M.R. Covey, best-selling author of The Speed of Trust and his latest book Trust and Inspire, shares why a ‘Command-and-Control’ leadership style no longer works and how a ‘Trust and Inspire’ leadership approach can encourage employees to be more collaborative and creative and to maximize their potential. Covey, who is the Co-Founder of CoveyLink and the FranklinCovey Global Speed of Trust Practice, also frames “the two epic imperatives of our time” to help guide leaders on creating a thriving culture that can help attract, grow, retain, engage and inspire the best people in the global war for talent and to successfully collaborate and innovate in order for companies to win in the marketplace.
9:30 - 9:55 AM - Executive Fireside Chat: Why Security Service Edge is a Critical Part of any Zero Trust Program
James Robinson, Deputy CISO, Netskope interviewed by Hunter Muller, Founder and CEO, HMG Strategy
Security Service Edge (SSE) is the next evolution of cloud security and a critical part of any zero trust strategy. SSE converges legacy point security capabilities into a unified cloud platform that provides secure access to applications and data everywhere, consistently for every location and delivery model. A modern security program aligned to zero trust principles must move beyond simplistic allow/block decisions and instead evaluate and re-evaluate the context surrounding every interaction, offering and adapting just the right access at just the right time. SSE is the security stack that helps deliver the promise of cloud and digital transformation.

Alen Starr, CIO, Goodwill Industries - Suncoast
Some experts are openly questioning the need for a centralized IT organization in light of rapidly changing business and technology environments. In an era of digitally enabled consumer and workplace solutions, can this model evolve and expand to drive critical transformation? Or will the IT department slowly disappear and be replaced by decentralized teams of business-aligned, technology-enabled experts? In this executive panel discussion, technology leaders of today will debate this provocative question and define a vision for the future.

Ken Washington, CIO & VP, Tampa Port Authority
The technologies that enhance
our organizations and our lives are more powerful—and more essential—than ever
before. Forward-thinking organizations, including governments, understand the
technological forces that surround them and look for ways to harness them for
the benefit of citizens and constituents alike.
These technology trends for
Government & Public sector this year arise from the challenges wrought from
the pandemic and the need for flexible operating models that support
significant disruptions. Government & Public agencies have experienced the
limitations and risks posed by decades-old legacy infrastructure and core
systems. To be better equipped to deal with the next disruption, government
CIOs are accelerating the move to modern, modular architectures. While the need
for legacy modernization is not new to government CIOs, the challenges related
to the pandemic have only served to heighten the awareness of the resulting
risks and the need for it.
This panel provides a
government-specific take on Digital Transformation in the Government &
Public Sector, spotlighting the accelerating technology trends most likely to
cause disruption over the next 18–24 months. Panelists will discuss
which trends may be most relevant for Government Agencies & Public Sector
organizations and how ready they are to take advantage of them. In this panel,
we will discuss with several CIOs new opportunities in Accelerated Legacy
Modernization, Anything as a Service (Xaas), Zero Trust Security, Multi-Channel
Citizen Engagement, and Operational Analytics to transform their
organizations and engineer competitive advantage.

AI, whether it is automating standard processes, having a chatbot respond to common customer questions or self-driving cars, is a quickly growing part of our everyday lives. Businesses realize immediate benefits from the use of AI, but all too often are later faced with unanticipated downsides, like resistance because of job losses, rogue chatbots, and self-driving car malfunctions. This has highlighted the need to implement AI in a holistic, ethical way, to ensure the greatest benefit and least harm for all. This is pro-ethical AI.
While it is not solely an IT issue, as the custodians of technology in our businesses, we are responsible for introducing AI in a way that is beneficial for our organizations as well as for the broader society. This requires holistic thinking, enhanced governance, enriched processes, and our active engagement with the many parts of the organization, e.g., leadership, risk, legal, talent etc.
The panel will debate the complexities of pro-ethical AI and will share practical steps from businesses on the journey to maturity.
4:25 - 4:30 PM - Raffle Prizes and Closing Remarks

They can be adopted from vendors or custom built, or they can simply be extensions of existing tools and systems. This allows ops and process experts to rapidly build holistic process solutions that can work with different systems, easily adapt to changing needs, and measure cross-functional KPIs–all with no-code and no change management. Enterprises like Google, EVERSANA, Instacart, Grubhub, Crypto.com, and more rely on Tonkean to optimize and align their operations across functions—including sales, marketing, customer support, legal, finance, and more. History In 1997, a group of prominent CIOs in the Central Florida area decided to establish a non-competitive environment where CIOs could collaboratively share in knowledge and work experiences. The founding fathers included Andy Wing, Rick Sickles and Ron Maciejewski. Wing became the group’s President and initiated the recruitment process – encouraging Hugh Moore, Jim Dekle and Garrett Grainger to join as founding members to lead the new group, which was named the Central Florida CIO Council. Several years later, another member of the Council, Dave Razmussen, challenged the group to convert to an affiliate chapter of the Society for Information Management (SIM) – a watershed decision in our growth. The organization officially became a SIM chapter in 2001.
