Rising interest rates, supply-chain challenges, the War in Ukraine, the Great Resignation and energy constraints are each impacting strategic planning at the executive level. Technology executives who lead boldly and authentically across the C-suite while inspiring employees and fostering an environment of trust across the enterprise through a thoughtful approach to Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI) can stimulate a collaborative culture that sparks innovation and drives successful business outcomes. Savvy leaders who are able to see around the corners can also identify use cases for impactful technologies that can enable the organization to win in the marketplace while attracting, growing, and retaining the people and skills that are needed to power the successful 21st-century enterprise.

DIGITAL TECH TALK INTERVIEW: The New Leadership Paradigm: Why Tech Executives Must Shift from a ‘Command-and-Control’ Model to ‘Inspire and Trust’ to Win the Global War for Talent and in the Marketplace
Stephen M. R. Covey, best-selling author interviewed by Hunter Muller, Founder and CEO, HMG Strategy
The world has changed dramatically since March 2020 and so, too, have organizational cultures. The shift to a work-from-home environment has empowered employees who want to dictate how, when and where they work. Moreover, in a flat screen meeting environment where all participants are viewed as equals, employees don’t want to follow orders – they want to be part of the brain-trust that helps to solve critical business and customer challenges and to influence the strategic trajectory of the company.
In this compelling Executive Interview with HMG Strategy President and CEO Hunter Muller, Stephen M.R. Covey, best-selling author of The Speed of Trust and his forthcoming book Inspire and Trust, shares why a ‘Command-and-Control’ leadership style no longer works and how an ‘Inspire and Trust’ leadership approach can encourage employees to be more collaborative and creative and to maximize their potential. Covey, who is the Co-Founder of CoveyLink and the FranklinCovey Global Speed of Trust practice, also frames “the two epic imperatives of our time” to help guide leaders on creating a thriving culture that can help attract, grow, retain, engage and inspire the best people in the global war for talent and to successfully collaborate and innovate in order for companies to win in the marketplace.

EXECUTIVE PANEL: Partnering with Business Leaders on SaaS: Pivoting from a Department of ‘No’ to a Gateway of ‘Go’
Moderator: Maureen Niemiec, VP - IT, Retail Banking, BSA/AML - Internal Audit, Flagstar Bank
Panelists being confirmed.
The mantra shared among most CIOs and technology executives is that it’s no longer about IT being aligned with the business – IT IS part of the business. As CIOs and technology executives have become more deeply involved in crafting business strategy with fellow members of the C-suite and line-of-business leaders, this has also created an opportunity for tech leaders to identify opportunities to leverage software-as-a-service (SaaS) applications that can help make business constituents more productive.
In this Executive Panel discussion, top-tier technology leaders and industry experts will share progressive opportunities for tech executives and business leaders to partner more effectively. We’ll also explore real-world examples of IT organizations shifting from a department of ‘No’ to a gateway of ‘Go’ to empower the business and help the company achieve its strategic goals.
EXECUTIVE FIRESIDE CHAT: Nathan Smolenski, CISO, Head of Cyber Intelligence Strategy CISSP, CISM, CISA, Netskope will be interviewed by Hunter Muller, Founder and CEO, HMG Strategy

Internet of Things (IoT) sensors and data are creating new insights for executives in manufacturing, retail, construction, entertainment and other industries. For instance, plant floor managers can analyze IoT data to predict when a machine will require maintenance based on vibrations, sounds and other physical factors. Meanwhile, retailers are using IoT technologies to capture real-time customer data from kiosks and other sources.
In this Executive Panel discussion, world-class technology leaders and industry executives will share real-world examples of how IoT technologies, combined with edge computing and remote monitoring capabilities, can help executives to avoid unanticipated and expensive downtime for equipment and also to quickly analyze and respond to changes in customer behavior in retail, automotive, financial services and other industries.

EXECUTIVE PANEL: How the Internet of Things is Impacting Cybersecurity
Moderator: Mike Homant, CTO & Deputy CIO, City of Detroit
Panelists being confirmed.
The use of Internet of Things sensors and technologies is creating a bevy of new applications and use cases in manufacturing, automotive, retail, financial services, logistics and other industries. But because IoT sensors and other edge computing end points are difficult to secure, this makes it difficult to safeguard IoT data at endpoints and in transition.
In this Executive Panel discussion, elite security leaders and industry experts will share the security challenges associated with IoT and edge computing environments; recommendations for managing data at endpoints; along with resolving custom code related to products versus staying current with software patches.

EXECUTIVE PANEL: Designing the Future of Work
Moderator: Jason Torrez, Sr. Director, Software Engineering & Site Leader, GE Detroit Technology center, GE Aviation
Darlene Taylor, Head of Tech/CIO - EPITEC
Additional panelists being confirmed.
As organizational leaders know all too well, a major X factor in the global war for talent centers upon where employees are able to work. Two-plus years into a global pandemic, the design for how, where and when we work is still a work in progress, and employee preferences for working from home or in a hybrid environment vary from person to person.
In this dynamic Executive Panel discussion, world-class business technology executives will share the role they’re playing in architecting the future of work, along with how they are helping to guide the cultural evolution needed for the hybrid enterprise to operate successfully.

By allowing ops teams to automate, monitor, and manage mission-critical business processes with no-code, while still maintaining compliance and security, Tonkean enables enterprises to accelerate operational velocity at scale. The Tonkean platform makes automating complex business processes simple and accessible to non-developers, such as business operations teams and process owners, by abstracting the high technical barrier and coding expertise needed to deliver robust, enterprise-grade process solutions via composability. They can be adopted from vendors or custom built, or they can simply be extensions of existing tools and systems. This allows ops and process experts to rapidly build holistic process solutions that can work with different systems, easily adapt to changing needs, and measure cross-functional KPIs–all with no-code and no change management. Enterprises like Google, EVERSANA, Instacart, Grubhub, Crypto.com, and more rely on Tonkean to optimize and align their operations across functions—including sales, marketing, customer support, legal, finance, and more. https://www.8x8.com/Egon Zehnder was founded in 1964 with a distinctive vision and structure aimed at achieving two basic goals - to place our clients' interests first and to lead our profession in creating value for our clients through the assessment and recruitment of top-level management resources. The most fundamental expression of our client-first vision resides in our structure, which is unique to our profession. Our 390 consultants, operating from 63 wholly owned offices in 37 countries, are organized around a single-profit center partnership. This is designed to eliminate competitive barriers between our offices. It allows us to operate seamlessly when engagements call for us to mobilize across many offices in a country or a region. Large or small, local or global, our clients benefit from our structure by having access to our most relevant resources and relationships wherever they may reside. Underpinning this unique structure is our private ownership. We have chosen to operate our firm independent of any outside interests and are motivated solely by a desire to exceed our clients' expectations.
