Richard Entrup was formerly the Global CIO at Christie’s with responsibility for the global strategic vision and leadership of Christie’s Information Technology, Information Security, Digital & Data Products, Emerging Technology, and Audio/Visual groups. Founded in 1766 by James Christie, Christie’s is the world's leading art business and had global auction, private and digital sales in 2017 that totaled £5.1 billion / $6.6 billion. Total online art sales reached £165.6 million / $214.5 million in 2017. Christie’s has a global presence in 46 countries, with 10 salerooms around the world including in London, New York, Paris, Geneva, Milan, Amsterdam, Dubai, Zürich, Hong Kong, and Shanghai.
Prior to Christie’s, Richard held various technology leadership roles at prominent global brands including Disney/ABC TV Group, Time Warner Inc., The Museum of Modern Art (MoMA), Viacom, and Tiffany & Company. Richard also served as CIO at a major global law firm and several healthcare companies with documented success aligning technology investment to strategic business objectives. He has significant hands-on experience managing all traditional areas of a global IT function as well as Digital Media, Broadcasting/Streaming, Omni-channel Retail including eCommerce/Online Sales, Web/Mobile, Ad Sales, Digital Marketing, Augmented Reality (AR), Virtual Reality (VR), Artificial Intelligence (AI), Online Auctions, Agile Transformation, Cloud/SaaS Migrations, Shared Services, Outsourcing, Data & Analytics Strategy and Products, Physical & Information Security, Audit & Compliance (GDPR, PCI, PII, HIPAA, SOX), Audio Visual (AV), and Live Event/Venue Management.
A passionate advocate of continuing education, mentoring, and paying it forward, Richard is an active mentor to students enrolled in the Executive Master of Science in Technology Management Program at Columbia University and a Taproot Foundation pro bono Advisor to non-profits via the Disney VoluntEARS program. An industry thought leader, Richard is a frequent speaker at various media and technology conferences and an active CIO Advisory Board member for HMG Strategy, Lightspeed Venture Partners, Greylock Partners, Evanta and CIO Perspectives.
