Dr. Kenneth Russell

Dr. Ken Russell is a respected technology leader/coach and innovation amplifier. A technology pioneer, he developed early Intranet systems for large banks which led to his participation in developing one of the first successful Internet-based training platforms. He was a valued voice and key influencer in the development of the North Carolina Research Campus (which focuses on Human Health, Agriculture, and Nutrition), leading the technology (as CIO) for the renowned Murdock Research Institute (DHMRI). Dr. Russell is also a Research Professor in Physics in the University of Houston’s Department of Mathematics and Physics.

  • Over 25 years’ experience developing and implementing comprehensive organizational change, transformational cultures, bespoke programs, and innovation initiatives in a variety of industries including energy, banking/financial, higher education, and technology. 
  • 2016-2019 - Served as CIO and VP of Digital Transformation at Pfeiffer University.  
  • Prior to that role, he served as a Director and Strategist at Cisco, CIO for the Murdock Research Institute (DHMRI) and spent several years in the Office of the CIO at Duke Energy. He was also SVP and head of Enterprise Architecture for Bank of America.
  • Mentor/coach for incumbent executives (preparing them for next generation processes and workplace challenges including policy/process development, validation of technology vision/direction, road-mapping, and Enterprise Architecture). Executive Leadership, organization tuning, management, budget oversight, staff optimization, SAP tuning, CPaaS, cost optimization.
  • Author of Social Knowledge: Organizational Currencies in the New Knowledge Economy (2014)
