Nirup Krishnamurthy is a technology and operations executive with over 20 years of varied experience across industries. Nirup started his career in the finance division at United Airlines after completing his Ph.D in Operations Research at the State University of New York at Buffalo. After a stint in finance developing complex mathematical models for all areas of the airline including profit planning, revenue management, resource planning and daily operations, he took up a management role within the airline’s IT division. As an applications lead, he implemented major operational and cargo systems for the airline. He held several applications portfolios until he became head of all applications in 2001. In late 2002, Nirup was named CIO of United Airlines and became part of the management team that undertook one the largest restructuring in corporate America. He used IT and process improvement as major levers to drive cost reduction and revenue enhancement for the airline. He also implemented a global staffing and operational model to reduce costs and provide redundancy. In late 2005, Nirup left United to become Chief Technology Officer and Executive Vice President at Northern Trust Bank where is oversaw an IT Transformation effort that enabled IT to better collaborate with the business to drive value. He implemented several large scale systems including a Customer Relationship Management, Finance ERP using Oracle-PeopleSoft, core trading platforms and e-commerce solutions. He also implemented a strong ITIL practice for the global infrastructure management organization, and initiated a $75 data center build/migration project. Since 2009, Nirup has diversified into an executive consulting/advisory role and has helped several companies in the technology services and healthcare sectors on business development, strategy planning and business transformation efforts.
