I want to personally thank everyone who attended last week's CIO Summit of America at the Grand Hyatt in Manhattan. As most of you know, much of the East Coast was still recovering from a snowstorm of epic proportions, and I especially appreciate the extra efforts made by so many people to participate in one of the year's premier IT leadership events.

Despite the winter weather, we set an attendance record. Everyone was engaged, energized and enthusiastic. Honestly, it feels great to step out onto the stage and sense such high levels of positive energy in the room.

From my perspective, the opening executive panel, "Summoning the Courage to Lead and Drive Innovation," was simply amazing. Our panelists (Michael Capone, COO, Medidata Solutions Worldwide; Michelle Garvey, VP & CIO, Ann Inc.; Stephen Gold, EVP & CIO, CVS Health; and Howard Melnick, SVP & Global CIO, Ralph Lauren Corp.) drilled down into 2016's CIO imperatives, setting the tone for the rest of the day's agenda.

Other highlights included:
  • Presentation of the 2016 HMG Strategy Transformational CIO Awards to Stephen Gold and Jim Swanson, CIO of Monsanto.
  • Introducing the HMG Strategy "Silicon Valley Global Innovation Institute" digital series, in conjunction with a phenomenal panel of VCs (David Aronoff, General Partner, Flybridge Capital Partners; Mike Dauber, General Partner, Amplify Partners; and Cory Eaves, Managing Director, General Atlantic Resources Group) talking about emerging technologies and analyzing their potential value.
  • Launching our new MyHMG mobile app, which created a highly compelling digital channel, enabling attendees to engage throughout the day.
  • Closing rock-star CIO panel "Leading in Highly Disruptive and Innovative Times," including Dana Deasy, Managing Director & Global CIO, JPMorgan Chase; Tom Greene, Chief Information & Business Services Officer, Colgate-Palmolive; Roger Gurnani, EVP, Chief Information and Technology Architect, Verizon; and Larry Quinlan, Global CIO, Deloitte. The panel was moderated by Mark Polansky, Senior Partner, CIO/IT Officers Practice, Korn Ferry.
If you made it to the summit, I want to thank you again. If you didn't, please make plans to attend one of our upcoming executive leadership summits. They are truly the best and most effective venues for learning, sharing knowledge and networking with executive peers.
