Bruce Leidal is the Chief Information Officer at Carestream; a $2.4 billion medical and dental imaging and healthcare IT solutions company with 7,000 employees globally.

Leidal leads Carestream’s global Information Technology (IT) organization, focusing on streamlining business processes and providing information that enables Carestream to optimize its business while continually improving its customers’ experience.

Carestream has seen significant improvements in IT under Leidal’s leadership, including: the establishment of a new IT Leadership team; significant upgrade of the IT talent pool; transformation of the business through successful implementation of over 80 major projects; simplification of the business through the consolidation and elimination of over 300 core applications; improvement of global IT operations through outsourcing; consolidation of applications development from locations in 28 countries to three Centers of Excellence; and reduction of overall IT cost to benchmark levels, yielding over $17 million in recurring annual savings while improving services.

The accomplishments of the IT transformation at Carestream have been recognized externally, including: a case study on talent acquisition published in Topgrading by Dr Bradford Smart; a case study by SIM Advanced Practice Council entitled, IT Leadership At Carestream: Handling a Large Scale Divestiture; and on Forbes.com, There’s A Smarter Way To Tighten An IT Budget, by Peter High.

Prior to joining Carestream, Leidal served as CIO of Hayes Lemmerz International (HLI), a $2.4 billion global automotive supplier for which he was responsible for transforming the IT function. His accomplishments led to improved information accuracy, streamlined decision making and stronger business management.

Previously, Leidal held executive positions at Systems Thinking, General Motors, and Federal-Mogul Corporation. He was a management consult at AT Kearney and gained his technical expertise while at EDS and Texas Instruments.

Leidal received a B.S. in Information Systems from Madonna University in Livonia, Michigan, and has several certifications including Project Management Professional (PMP) from the Project Management Institute and IT Management from Learning Tree International.
