Chad Pinson, Managing Director in Stroz Friedberg’s Dallas office, serves as a trusted advisor to corporate, law firm, government, and individual clients in criminal, civil, regulatory, expert testimony, and internal corporate matters. Mr. Pinson brings over 14 years of legal and investigatory experience, along with subject matter expertise related to cybercrime, privacy and data security issues, embezzlement, and other fraudulent financial transactions. Clients leverage his invaluable experience and knowledge to better manage information and physical security risks, internal and external fraud and misconduct, compliance and due diligence, plus the challenges of handling electronically stored information and big data. He supervises digital forensic, security, investigative, and electronic discovery matters for major law firms, corporate management, and information technology departments involving data breach, data destruction and spoliation, security-risk assessments, leaks and theft of confidential information, trade secrets, and intellectual property. Prior to joining Stroz Friedberg, Mr. Pinson was a partner at Baker Botts LLP in Dallas where he developed a national practice litigating and advising clients in privacy, data security, data breach, data access, identity theft, e-commerce , class action, class arbitration, consumer, credit, deceptive trade practices, fraud, and banking and financial transaction matters. Mr. Pinson handled a variety of complex matters in courts across the country, appearing in federal or state courts in 25 different states, as well as multiple arbitration forums. During that time, he was licensed to practice law in the State of Texas and was also admitted to practice before the United States Supreme Court, the United States Courts of Appeal for the Fifth, Sixth, and Tenth Circuits, the United States District Courts for the Eastern, Western, Southern, and Northern Districts of Texas, and the Eastern District of Wisconsin. Notably, Mr. Pinson received special acknowledgement in 2012, appearing in the Best Lawyers in America list. From 2004-2011, he was continuously recognized by Law & Politics as a “Texas Rising Star.” Mr. Pinson is a past Vice Chairman and now the current Chairman of the State Bar of Texas Privacy & Data Security Committee. He is a member of both the Consumer & Commercial Law Section Council, and the Dallas Bar Association Antitrust Section Council. As a thought leader, he regularly speaks and publishes on privacy, data breach, cyber security, and class actions. Chad Pinson received his B.B.A. with honors from the University of Texas and his J.D. with honors from Duke University School of Law where he was President of the Moot Court Board.
