Golestani is the Former President, Emerging Businesses and Global Chief Information Officer at Merck, where he is responsible for the company’s portfolio of health services and solutions companies inclusive of the company’s venture and equity funds, as well as the company’s global information technology organization, strategy and worldwide execution spanning all lines of business inclusive of Human Health and Animal Health BioPharma. Golestani serves as a director on the Board of Directors of Seal Software (www.seal-software.com), the leading provider of contract discovery, extraction, and analytics capabilities, and UMUC Ventures, a not-for-profit organization, established by the University of Maryland University College (umuc.edu), that develops innovative businesses and partnerships, supporting efforts to reduce the cost of higher education for adult learners while addressing the workforce needs of the 21st century. Golestani also serves on the advisory councils for multiple venture funds and technology product and services companies. Previous Merck responsibilities included the global head of IT for Merck’s R&D division; Leadership of the Company’s global IT capability supporting corporate functions; Leadership and development of the Company’s IT strategy, portfolio, and enterprise architecture; Leadership of the company’s global computing services, eBusiness, and information security capabilities; as well as various leadership and management roles across the company. Prior to joining Merck, Golestani was a principal with Oracle Corporation’s consulting practice. Previously, Golestani served on the Board of Directors for Liaison Technologies (www.liaison.com), and NPower (www.npower.org). Golestani has a degree in Management Science from Massachusetts Institute of Technology Sloan School of Management, and was a co-founder of Cambridge, Massachusetts based Cross Road Technologies, Inc..
