John Varkey is the Vice President, Enterprise Digital Services for Waste Management. In this role, John is responsible for setting the technology direction for the organization and for enhancing and operating Waste Management’s applications and infrastructure. Key initiatives include integrating acquisitions, supporting the digital growth agenda, and improving the performance of the company’s technology assets.

John has 20 years of experience managing IT teams. Prior to joining Waste Management, John was CIO of Direct Energy.  He has previously held IT management positions with companies such as ADP and JPMorgan Chase.

John received a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from Texas A&M University and an MBA from Rice University.
