Ken Spangler
(Retired) FedEx EVP IT Global Operating Technologies/Co-Founder AdaptiveION Inc.
Prior to retiring and founding AdaptiveION Inc., Ken Spangler led FedEx Global Opco Technologies: Express, Ground, Freight, and Logistics. He was responsible for the strategic direction through execution of global technology solutions across all FedEx transportation and logistics operating companies. Ken also had leadership responsibility for FedEx Enterprise Operations Technology Innovation.
Throughout his tenure with FedEx, Ken has held the CIO role for each of the large transportation segments of FedEx Corporation. Prior to his current role, he served as the Executive Vice President and CIO of FedEx Express and FedEx Logistics, and before that was the Senior Vice President and CIO at FedEx Ground for more than 10 years. Ken also had CIO responsibilities leading the FedEx Freight IT Team and standardizing operation technologies across the FedEx enterprise via the FedEx Operations Planning and Technology Steering Committee.
Ken’s work has been recognized with a number of industry awards, including Computerworld Premier 100 IT Leaders Award, CIO Magazine’s Ones to Watch Award, and he is also a four-time winner of the prestigious FedEx Five Star Award. Ken addressed advanced IT automation on CNBC-TV and is often invited to speak about strategic technology transformation, business agility, and leading-edge technology architecture and innovation in business.
Ken serves on several advisory boards and is a member of the board of directors for the Pittsburgh Technology Council. In addition, he is an adjunct professor at Carnegie Mellon University where he teaches Strategy Lab, a program for the development and successful execution of business and technology strategy.
Ken has been an Information Technology leader for more than 34 years and is a graduate of the University of Pittsburgh. Ken and his wife, Traci, live in Memphis, TN and have three adult children, two working in the IT field, and one graduating from law school the spring of 2022.
