Pat Furr has led an impressive career as a transformational IT leader, with deep experience in IT Infrastructure, in his 33 years working in the energy and healthcare industries.

It is hard to reach the pinnacles of what the institution can do, without a solid team. As a leader, Pat utilizes empathy and positivity to establish a good and healthy workplace culture, that encourages and empowers everyone to their full potential, so our institution can continue to voyage towards a journey of success.
Pat has been with Texas Children’s Hospital for 4 years, currently as Assistant VP. His responsibilities include hybrid data centers, network and telecommunications, audio/visual digital experience, service desk, workstation, mobility, telemedicine / eHealth, and healthcare technologies.  Pat has helped Texas Children’s improve availability and reliability of the core infrastructure, and tightly aligned with our cyber security program.  Key efforts overseen by Pat, are the migrations of servers into HPE Greenlake private cloud, upgrading wireless infrastructure for better performance, upgrading 250 conference room audio/visual technologies to embrace hybrid work team environments, implementing new technology capabilities with the migration from Avaya to Cisco unified communication solution, advancing technologies in telemedicine and eHealth supporting video visits and care, designing a highly flexible and mobile technology solution to quickly deploy for community initiatives, and is a member of several organizational committees.
Before his current role at Texas Children’s, Pat worked at NRG Energy, and prior affiliates, for 29 years, where he held roles including, Director – Business Continuity & Disaster Recovery, launching an enterprise-wide business continuity program, and Sr. Director – IT Infrastructure, where he led several data center projects, including a 100% green energy data center, technology implementations in multiple high-rise buildings, and national support of essential IT infrastructure for 24×7 trade floors and over 100 power plants and critical energy infrastructure, across the U.S energy markets.
Pat has his certification as a Certified Business Continuity Professional (CBCP), and obtained his Bachelor’s degree in Information Systems, with Honors, from University of Phoenix and his Executive MBA from Rice University, in Houston.
