Robert Sumter, Ph.D., Chief Information Officer, is responsible for information technology, telecommunication, and clinical engineering operations at the health system. Rob’s professional experience includes a distinguished career of more than 20 years with the United States Navy. During his naval career, Rob served as Chief Information Officer at multiple naval hospitals and for the U.S. Commander in Chief Atlantic Fleet. Having worked with a Fortune 500 company, consulting companies and several healthcare organizations in various roles, his leadership experience in the healthcare setting includes innovation, strategy, program development, architecture, data management, hospital operations, human resources, startup ventures, process improvement, and information management/technology. He has also used lean/six sigma and innovative technology to change business models to leverage technology to drive service delivery. Rob holds a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration; a Master’s degree in Computer Resource and Information Management; and a Ph.D. in Health Services. He is a Certified Healthcare Executive with the American College of Healthcare Executives, and a Certified Lean/Sigma Black Belt.
