Robin Brown

Robin is the CIO for the Cargill North America Protein Group. She has 24 years of IT experience in the agriculture, construction, healthcare, government, consulting, retail and financial sectors. Prior to Cargill, she was the VP & CIO at Mortenson Construction and held other senior leadership roles at UnitedHealth Group, Accenture, Best Buy, and Arcadia Financial.  She is known for driving technology-enabled innovation, strategic business transformation, building global shared service capabilities, and transforming IT functions to be value-driven while fostering relationships between the Business, Operations and IT delivery. 

Robin is recognized as a transformational leader in the industry.  She is as a cultural change agent and has a reputation for stepping into very chaotic situations, assessing the landscape quickly, identifying gaps and creating a vision and strategy to move the business forward. Robin has a reputation for building and mentoring strong leadership teams that are based on a change agent philosophy and high expectations of accountability. Focusing on the culture and team member engagement is important to her. Robin’s passion is mentoring leaders and team members that have high potential.

She is active in the community and holds several Board of Director roles. She is part of the Think IT Board of Advisors and the Governing Body for the Minneapolis HMG CIO Executive Leadership Summit.  She’s also on the Board of Directors for EMPOWER Leadership Academy for Girls, WLiT (Women Leaders in Technology), and New Market Bank.  Robin co-leads the Think IT Women in Leadership forums and was also the President and Founding Board Member of the West Lakes Chapter of National Charity League, focusing on mothers and daughters volunteering together.

Robin has twin daughters in their second year of college. She travels quite a bit with her “empty nest” friends and enjoys bootcamp classes, running, volunteering, indulging in fabulous wine around her fire pit, spoiling her little niece and nephews, and riding her Harley.
