Scott brings more than 19 years in senior information technology leadership roles in the health and life sciences industry. He leads all enterprise and commercial IT functions, as well as all company operations for Navican Genomics, an Intermountain Healthcare Company. As the first employee at Navican, Scott has led the ground up buildout of all company services scaling to 50+ employees, as well as leading the buildout of Navican’s Next Generation Sequencing(NGS) laboratory and team in Salt Lake City, Utah from shell site identification through CLIA/CAP accreditation in 11 months. Additionally, Scott has ownership of the commercial data and technology services strategy focused on developing the Navican IP portfolio, ecosystem of partnerships, technology acquisition and in-house development.
Prior to joining Navican, Scott served as the Vice-President of Technology Product Development at Human Longevity Inc.(HLI), where he led the technical development of HLI’s genomic reports and application products, as well as the development and operations of the HLI clinical systems infrastructure in the Health Nucleus. Prior to HLI, Scott served as the CIO at RainTree Oncology, where he led the development and delivery of OncoExplorer, a novel clinical oncology longitudinal data platform, serving both oncology care and pharmaceutical industry data and analytics needs.
Previously, Scott led the global IS function at Illumina between 2008 and 2013. While at Illumina, Scott also led the development of IlluminaCompute, providing key vision and leadership in the development of commercial informatics solutions aimed at simplifying the computational needs of production scale genomic sequencing.
Prior to Illumina, Scott spent 9 years at Amgen a variety of technical and leadership positions in information services ranging from M&A integration to infrastructure operations to strategic planning and architecture.
Scott earned his Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Information Systems and Master’s Degree in Business Administration from California Lutheran University.
