Steven B. Ambrose is vice president and chief information officer for DTE Energy (NYSE: DTE), a Detroit-based diversified energy company involved in the development and management of energy-related businesses and services nationwide. Its operating units include an electric utility serving 2.1 million customers in Southeastern Michigan and a natural gas utility serving 1.2 million customers in Michigan. The DTE Energy portfolio includes non-utility energy businesses focused on power and industrial projects, natural gas pipelines, gathering and storage, and energy marketing and trading. As one of Michigan’s leading corporate citizens, DTE Energy is a force for growth and prosperity in the 450 Michigan communities it serves in a variety of ways, including philanthropy, volunteerism and economic progress.

Ambrose is responsible for securing, operating, and applying the company’s information technology assets toward achieving the company’s strategic objectives.

Prior to his current role, Ambrose was director of Enterprise Performance Management where he was responsible for the oversight of corporate performance, and served as the chief of staff to the CEO where he coordinated various corporate-wide initiatives.

Ambrose joined DTE Energy in 1998 and served in a variety of progressively more  responsible information technology (IT) roles including the oversight of the company’s enterprise business systems, the IT operations of DTE Energy’s non-utility affiliates, and the stewardship of the company’s IT strategy and enterprise architecture.

Ambrose earned an MBA with high distinction from the University of Michigan, a Project Management Professional (PMP) certification, a master’s certificate in management information systems from the University of Southern California, and a bachelor’s degree in business administration from Bellevue College.
