I was thrilled and delighted to learn this weekend that my friend Eric Yuan has been named Businessperson of the Year by Time. I’ve known Eric for a while, and I am certain that he is grateful, and somewhat surprised, by his meteoric rise to fame.

Eric is not the kind of technology leader who seeks the spotlight. He is a genuinely humble and modest person. Despite his unassuming demeanor, he has become the face of transformation and a true beacon of hope in a turbulent period in our history. I am deeply thankful to Zoom for keeping us connected in these extraordinarily difficult and uncertain times.

“The 50-year-old founder and CEO of Zoom had worked for a decade to build a no-frills, highly functional conferencing platform for businesses. Now it was being used in all sorts of unexpected places, from delivery rooms to grade schools,” writes of Andrew R.Chow of Time.

From Eric’s perspective, the accolades seem virtually overwhelming. “We never thought about consumers or K-12 schools when we started planning the year 2020,” Eric said in a Zoom call with Time.

I have relied on Zoom’s user-friendly features and dependability to keep HMG Strategy moving forward and growing, despite the formidable obstacles we all must deal with during the pandemic. Like many business owners and executives, I have found Zoom to be a great partner and a fabulous resource.

On behalf of everyone in the HMG Strategy network, I congratulate Eric on his well-deserved honor, and I wish him continued success. I sincerely believe that his star will continue shining brightly for decades to come.
