Placing a Fresh Lens on Collaboration and Innovation in the Future Workplace

As companies shift to a hybrid work setting of remote and in-office employees, this will create new opportunities for employees and business partners to collaborate in new ways to spur the next wave of innovation for businesses.

When we shifted to a work-from-anywhere model in March 2020, many of us had to adapt to new ways of working. We had to carve out spaces for getting our work done. We also adapted to when we got our work done along with how work was conducted.

Even though employees generally adapted well to the work-from-anywhere model, the reduction in personal interactions between employees in remote settings may well have hampered our ability to collaborate and innovate. For instance, a study conducted by WeWork reveals that working from home has resulted in a decline in the ability for employees to meet and brainstorm with one another by as much as 15%. Meanwhile, the ability for employees to maintain social relationships with one another in the remote workplace declined by an average of 17%.

As we move forward into the future of work, CIOs and business technology executives will play an integral role in fostering fresh ways to collaborate that deliver new waves of productivity and innovation and to help employees and business partners to feel more connected with one another. The shift to a hybrid workplace is prompting business technology leaders to explore new ways to brainstorm on moving the business forward and to identify and execute on new digital services and new revenue streams to help grow the business and gain a competitive edge.

To address these issues, HMG Strategy is hosting a custom webinar on July 27 at 2:30 p.m. ET – ‘Moving from Surviving to Thriving in an Era of Hybrid Work’. The webinar, sponsored by Slack, features an A-list roster of speakers, including Rashmi Kumar, SVP & CIO, Hewlett Packard Enterprise; Jason “JJ” James, CIO at Net Health; and Brian Elliott, VP, Future Forum at Slack. The webinar will be moderated by Tom Hoffman, Senior Research Director at HMG Strategy.
