Today’s technology executive plays a pivotal role in helping his or her organization respond to the forces of change needed to become a digital enterprise, no matter what industry they are in. What are the top skills and traits necessary to lead a successful digital transformation, develop collaboration with the C-suite and board, and to achieve the future vision? This panel of top technology search executives and practitioners will share valuable advice on what key attributes and strategies, beyond leadership, are making some technology executives more successful than others.

1:30 PM – 2:10 PM

EXECUTIVE KEYNOTE: When Digital Transformation Succeeds

Ron Markham, Executive Strategist, ServiceNow

There is no shortage of in-depth analysis and expert opinions on the topic of why digital transformation initiatives at organizations large and small are failing. Some are saying they are failing at a rate exceeding 70%. In a recent issue of Forbes, a contributing writer states that, “…this equates to over $900 billion worth of spend that will miss the mark.” Invariably, the focus of the analytics then goes on to explain: What was missing? What went wrong? Where efforts went off the rails? etc.

In this presentation, Ron Markham will turn that question around and present an “expert opinion” on what’s really behind digital transformation initiatives that succeed. But, unlike the “negative nellies” ready to opine about what went wrong (typically from the point of view of an outsider looking in), Ron will share his personal experiences as a CIO and transformation leader from the perspective of When Digital Transformation Succeeds. Not as an outsider looking in, but as an insider with the battle scars and the stories behind them.

2:10 PM – 2:40 PM

Coffee Break, Networking and Meet Our Partners

2:40 PM – 3:20 PM

EXECUTIVE PANEL:  Balancing Agility, Innovation, and Security

Tom Baltis, VP CISO, Delta Dental Insurance Company

Todd Barnum, CISO, GoPro Inc.

Dr. Sarah Cortes, Sr. M&A Security Program Manager, Salesforce

Michael Montoya, Chief Security Advisor, Microsoft

Drew Schuil, VP Global Product Strategy, Imperva

Moderator:  Mark Egan, Partner, StrataFusion

Competitive advantage requires agility and innovation. At the same time data, assets, intellectual capital must be protected. This panel will focus on how to foster innovation and leverage security as a competitive advantage, providing strategies that can be quickly implemented to achieve the overall goal of secure innovation.

3:20 PM – 3:40 PM

Transition Break

3:40 PM – 4:20 PM

EXECUTIVE PANEL:  Summoning the Courage to Lead and Drive Innovation in Highly Disruptive Times

Lara Druyan, Managing Director, Head of Innovation West Coast, Royal Bank of Canada

Trevor Schultz,  CIO, Micron Technology

Valla Vakili, Head of Ventures Studio, Citi Ventures

Naveen Zutshi, CIO, Palo Alto Networks

Moderator:  Tony Leng, Managing Director and CIO Practice Leader, Diversified Search

Leaders who build their skills on a strong foundation of courage have a significant advantage for successfully driving innovation to create value to their organization. Today’s CIO must be prepared to embrace strategic innovation while simplifying IT and bringing legacy operations and applications into the future. To accomplish this, the CIO must be strategically aligned with the CEO and the board.

This session will address the new and dynamic mindset a CIO must employ to lead with courage and drive innovation.
